• 2.0 out of 5 stars from B. E. Floyd -- Not enough story in between the constant sex : This was probably my last book from Schinhofen after buying everything he has put out thus far. I usually skip the sex to get to the story, in this book, once you take away the constant moistness, shafts, ect., there is very little actual story. It could have been titled "Alvin does Gothy, and she does him right back" because teenage boys do not talk about sex as often as these two do. It is not a case of not letting a day go by without long involved discussions of sex with occasional sexcapades, it is more like not letting 2 hours go by without talking about sex, or having it in one form or another even when not in a secure location. I am surprised these two lived long enough to get anywhere without driving into a tree while engaging in some sort of sex. Yes, I know, people have sex, even I have had sex, and like it a bunch. But these two never shut up about it, having it, planning the next time to have it, or discussing the last time they had it. ( Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2018 )

I'm certain it's his attachment to Gothy aka Becky but their dynamic is awful. It's a little jarring that everything they do relates back to sex. I get it, it's an adult harem type book but sheesh.....It's too much at times. There is no character growth in the MC and he basically stays the same since book 1. He doesn't even ask about what spells he can use. I mean he can clearly see spell. Then the author decides to scrap major game functions near the end. This is going to get a solid "nah dawg" from this reader. Good luck on book 3.....if you make it there ( Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2018 )

• 5.0 out of 5 stars from Kindle Customer -- Changing things up : First and foremost I have to say that the reviews complaining about there being too much sex is a bunch of bull. At most there is half a dozen scenes over the course of the book and that shouldn't be counting the over abundant of sexual teasing/innuendos, since most of that is by Gothy as part of her defense mechanism in order to keep Al interested because of her past abuse. Anyway, while the book didn't do too much to advance the story overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it for the focus of finalizing the relationship between these two broken characters and cemented their love for each other in stone. I do like the idea of a potential harem element being hinted, seeing how this was my first introduction to Schinhofen I don't know what is the norm for his books, and the possibility of the characters changing species or non-human companions joining the party. Can't wait for the next book and seeing what the inevitable end will be. ( Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2018 )

Sometimes the second or third books in a series can feel like they are there as 'filler' and simply a means to tell the reader some things and set up events for later in a planned series - this definitely didn't feel like that at all.
